RGUHS Vice Chancellor accused of favouring son

Sriprakash is accused of allowing his son Karthick C. Prakash to write exams even though he was short of attendance.

A cheating case was registered against the Vice Chancellor of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) Dr KS Sriprakash by the Tilaknagar police in South Bangalore on Monday for allegedly favouring his son.

Police said they have registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC based on a complaint lodged by a woman named Pushparani. Sriprakash is accused of allowing his son Karthick C. Prakash, a student of the Bangalore Medical College and Research Institute, to write the MBBS final-year examinations in 2012 even though he was short of attendance.

Pushparani claimed that in medical theory classes, out of 240 Karthick had attended only 83, and in the practical classes, out of 166 he had attended only 80. Other students who hadn’t been regular at college had been denied hall tickets, Pushparani alleged. Police are investigating the matter.
