Relief to Bengaluru Metro passengers as BMRCL announces more loop trains from Majestic station

According to a press statement by the BMRCL, 15 trains will originate from the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station-Majestic instead of nine at present.

Responding to growing demand from passengers to run more trains, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on Friday announced that additional train services will be operated from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station-Majestic by revising the time table of the trains on the Purple line with effect from Saturday.

The Purple line is a part of the east-west corridor connecting Whitefield in the east and Challaghatta in the west.

According to a press statement by the BMRCL, 15 trains will originate from the Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station-Majestic instead of nine at present. Out of these 15 trains, 10 trains will run up to Pattanduru Agrahara (ITPL), four up to Whitefield and one up to the Baiyappanahalli station.

Accordingly, during the morning hours, trains will originate from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station-Majestic at 8.48 am, 8.58 am, 9.08 am, 9.18 am, 9.29 am, 9.39 am, 9.50 am, 10 am, 10.11 am, 10.21 am, 10.39 am, 10.50 am, 11 am, 11.11 am and 11.22 am towards the east. In addition, there will be regular passing trains (Whitefield to Challaghatta) too, at 3.3-minute headway at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station-Majestic up to 10.25 am.

To meet the persistent demands, out of the 14 trains presently terminating at Garudacharpalya, six trains will be extended towards Pattanduru Agrahara (ITPL)/ Whitefield. For passengers who alight at Garudacharpalya Metro Station, the next train towards Pattanduru Agrahara (ITPL) will be available within 3.5 minutes.

During the evening hours, the trains will ply at an interval of 5 minutes from Baiyappanahalli at 4.20 pm instead of 4.40 pm towards Mysore Road station for the convenience of the passengers, the BMRCL said.

Meanwhile, the schedule of trains on the Green line remains unchanged.

The BMRCL is now buoyed by increasing patronage wherein for the first time, Bengaluru Metro clocked daily operations revenue of over Rs 2 crore on three consecutive days starting from July 1. On July 1 and 2, the BMRCL recorded a revenue of Rs 2.59 and Rs 2.30 crore, respectively, with a ridership of 7.96 lakh. On July 3, the ridership touched 8 lakh, earning a revenue of Rs 2.16 crore.
