2 days ahead of release of ‘Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare’ actor Ramya issues legal notice to team behind movie
Speaking to The Indian Express, director Nithin Krishnamurthy said, "I just came to know about it now. With two days left for the release, I am really shocked. I will speak to my team before I respond."

Former Member of Parliament and Kannada actor Ramya alias Divya Spandana has sent a legal notice to the team behind the film ‘Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare’ claiming that her photos and videos were used for the promotion of the movie without her consent. The former Mandya MP has sought Rs 1 crore compensation from the film crew.
While the court issued an interim injunction on Tuesday, according to information, the notice has been issued to Gulmohur films private limited, Zee entertainment enterprises private limited, Varun Kumar Gowda (of Gulmohur films private ltd), Nithin Krishnamurthy (director of the movie), Arvind Kashyap (cameraman), Prajwal B P (lead actor), A2 Music and Paramvah studios.

Speaking to The Indian Express Nithin said, “I just came to know about it now. With two days left for the release, I am really shocked. I will speak to my team before I respond.”
The legal notice read, “A commercial suit bearing Com OS no 812/2023 against each of you on 17/07/2023 before 83rd additional city civil and sessions judge, at Bengaluru (commercial court CCH-84), being inter alia aggrieved by your actions in unauthorisedly using video clips of our client in the trailer of your film ‘Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare’ and also in the main feature film as well. This was done despite the fact that our client expressly and unequivocally refused/denied her consent for her video clips etc., being used. This suit inter alia alleges a violation of the artistic agreement dated April 2022 along with a violation of her celebrity/publicity rights and moral rights under the copyright act, 1957.”
The film features Rishab Shetty and Ramya in cameo roles and is scheduled for release on July 21. Ramya’s legal notice has caused uncertainty around the film’s release, as it comes as a surprise considering her prior participation in the movie’s promo shoot.

A source in the movie industry said Ramya had participated in the promotional video shoot of the movie and she had insisted that it should be used in the movie. Later, Kannada actor Puneeth Rajkumar also participated in the promotional video. But after the trailer was released, Ramya was seen in it which made her initiate legal action, the source added.
