The family of the woman, who was allegedly abducted at the behest of JD(S) legislator H D Revanna to prevent her from approaching the SIT against his son and party MP Prajwal Revanna in the sexual assault case, has been left scarred following the circulation of the victim’s videos.

The woman was rescued by SIT officials on Saturday from a house in Hunsur, Mysuru district, that is said to belong to an aide of Revanna. “A police van is deployed in front of our house. The whole world knows about us now,” the son-in-law of the victim told The Indian Express.

“Everyone in the village knows that my mother-in-law is the victim… Can you imagine the trauma we are experiencing,” he said.

A few days before the videos came out, the victim was asked to return to work at Revanna’s farmhouse and was promised payment of her pending salary. “Her two-month salary was pending when she left the job,” the son-in-law said. After the woman was abducted on April 29, the videos started circulating, he added.

According to the son-in-law, the farmhouse where the woman worked was often visited by Prajwal.

“How can we go back to our village and live? We are poor people fighting everyday to make ends meet. The area where we lived will never accept us,” said the son-in-law. The entire family is currently under the protection of SIT.
