A masked gang of four persons broke into a branch of the Manappuram Gold Loans firm in West Bengaluru and decamped with more than 7.5 kg of gold and other goods valued at over Rs 2.4 crore here on Friday evening.
The masked gang brandished knives and threw chilli powder at the employees of the Manappuram Gold Loan branch at Jnanaganga Nagar before looting the loan firm. There was no security guard at the firm and the entire incident has been recorded on the CCTV cameras at the firm, police said.
The gang came in a car and fled in the same vehicle, police said. “The total value of the stolen items is yet to be estimated,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (West division) Labhu Ram said. Three similar cases of robberies at loan firms remain unsolved in Bengaluru.
Cases registered at Peenya, Rajajinagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar police stations over the past three years remain unsolved.
