The 34-year-old deputy general manager at an automobile firm in Bengaluru, who in his suicide note accused his estranged wife of harassing him and framing him in nine false cases, requested courts to conduct live streaming of the hearings in his case so that the public could witness the “terrible state of the legal system”.

Atul Subhash, a resident of Munnekollal, was found dead in his apartment on Monday. Following his death, his brother Bikas Kumar filed a police complaint against Subhash’s estranged wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha, brother Anurag, and uncle Sushil, who were then booked by the Marathahalli police for abetment to suicide.

On Wednesday, a police officer said a Bengaluru police team had left for Uttar Pradesh, where Subhash hailed from, to question the family members.

Subhash’s death note, which indianexpress.com has accessed, also contains his last wishes, including a request to prevent his wife and her family from approaching his body. In the 24-page death note, Subhash shared screenshots of WhatsApp conversations with his wife and others. He also requested that his cases be transferred to Bengaluru courts, stating why he would prefer them to those in Uttar Pradesh.

Subhash outlined his 12 wishes, calling them “My last wishes”.

–All my case hearings should happen live, and the people of this country should know about my case and learn about the terrible state of the legal system and the misuse of law by these women.

–Please allow this suicide note and the videos I have uploaded as my statement and evidence.

–I fear that the judge from Uttar Pradesh might tamper with the documents, put pressure on witnesses, and adversely affect other cases. Based on my experience, the Bengaluru courts are relatively more law-abiding than those in Uttar Pradesh. I request that the cases be run in Karnataka in the interest of justice and that she be kept in judicial and police custody in Bengaluru until the trial concludes.

–Give custody of my child to my parents, who can raise him with better values.

–Do not let my wife or her family come near my dead body.

–Do not perform my “asthi visarjan” until my harassers get punished. If the court decides that the corrupt judge, my wife, and the other harassers are not guilty, then pour my ashes into some gutter outside the court.

–Give maximum punishment on my harassers, though I do not trust our legal system too much. If people like my wife are not put behind jail, they will be emboldened and will put more false cases on other sons of society in the future.

–To wake up the judiciary and urge them to stop the harassment of my parents and brother in false cases.

–There shall be no negotiations or settlements with these evil people and the culprits must be punished.

–My wife should not be allowed to withdraw cases to escape punishment unless she explicitly accepts that she has filed false cases.

–I predict that my wife will now start bringing my child to court to gain sympathy, which she didn’t do before to make sure that I can’t meet my child. I request the court to not allow this drama.

–Maybe my elderly parents should formally ask for euthanasia from the courts if the harassment and extortion continue. Let’s formally kill the parents along with husbands in this country and create a dark era in the history of the judiciary. Narratives won’t be controlled by the system anymore. Times have changed.
