Bengaluru urban reported 11,938 new cases and 14 deaths.The Karnataka government on Saturday decided to remove night curfew and allow schools in Bengaluru city to start offline classes for standard 1 to 9 from January 31, based on the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) report.
“There will be no night curfew from January 31. The night curfew curbs have been lifted owing to the increase in recovery rate. The public transports, pubs, restaurants, government offices can operate with full seating capacity,” State Revenue Minister R Ashok told reporters on Saturday after a high-level meeting with the experts and officials, chaired by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
In view of the rising Covid-19 cases in the state, the government had imposed curbs including night curfew and weekend curfew from January 4.
The state logged 33,337 cases, 70 fatalities and 69,902 recoveries on Saturday. According to State Health Minister K Sudhakar, the overall hospitalisation on Friday was 1.9 per cent.

Ashok said that the government decided to continue with the mandatory RT-PCR tests for those coming from Kerala, Maharashtra and Goa, and the ban on social, religious and political rallies will continue.
Education minister BC Nagesh said, “The offline classes in Bengaluru…will open in Bengaluru from Monday (January 31) but adhering to the Covid-19 protocols.”

Amidst rising Covid-19 figures, the state government on Saturday decided to reopen all educational institutions including schools starting from pre-primary to higher secondary level, colleges and universities from January 31, saying closure of schools was found to have caused serious learning losses and affected mental health of students. State Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that he met education and health directors on Saturday and decided to reopen all educational institutions from January 31.

The Telangana government on Saturday decided to reopen all educational institutions in the state from February 1 with strict adherence to Covid-19 guidelines.
A memo to this effect was issued by the state education department.
