Karnataka: Six arrested for Bajrang Dal activist’s murder

The murder of 26-year-old Harsha Nagara led to arson and stone-throwing in Karnataka’s Shivamogga during the funeral procession on Monday afternoon.

Six people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old Bajrang Dal activist in Shivamogga district on Sunday night, according to police.

At a press conference on Tuesday, Shivamogga Superintendent of Police B M Laxmi Prasad said, “The arrested are Mohammed Kashif, Syed Nadeem, Afsifullah Khan, Rihan, Nihan, Abdul Afnan. Among them, four were directly involved in the murder while two were part of the conspiracy. Also, four of them have criminal backgrounds, including Kashif and Nadeem.”

He said the investigation is underway to ascertain whether any organisation was involved in the killing of Harsha.

“We are collecting information on the movement of the accused in the past six months, about the locations they visited and people they met. We are investigating it from all angles. We have few eyewitnesses in the case and the accused are being interrogated separately,” the SP said.
