Haryana youths send proxies to write exam for clerical job in Bengaluru school, held after fingerprint mismatch

The accused submitted their applications and paid the examination fees via demand draft. Subsequently, the imposters appeared for the exam at the school’s Austin Town campus on March 24. During the written test, officials routinely collected fingerprints from all examinees.

However, during the skill assessment on March 30, Aatish and Ajay’s fingerprints did not match those collected previously, raising suspicions of foul play. Verifying records confirmed that two impersonators had taken the exams on behalf of Aatish and Ajay.

A senior police official disclosed that Aatish had engaged a relative proficient in competitive exams as his proxy while Ajay sent a friend. The duo did not offer monetary compensation but covered their proxies’ travel and incidental expenses. Unaware that their fingerprints would be scrutinised, they provided their authentic Aadhaar cards for the imposters to use, said the police.

The police have formed a special team to arrest the imposters who are said to be in Haryana.

The Ashok Nagar police have registered a case under sections 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 465 (forgery), 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating), and 471 (using as genuine a forged document) of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
