Woman, her 3 children murdered in Karnataka

Superintendent of Police Palash Chandra Dhali of the Baruipur area said that one person has been arrested for the murder and he is being interrogated. (File) A woman and her three children were found murdered at their residence in the coastal Karnataka town of Udupi Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Haseena, 47, and her children Afnan, 23, Aynaz, 21, and Aseem, 14. Haseena’s mother-in-law Hajira, 70, was also injured and has been hospitalised. According to a police source, someone known to the family might be the murderer. Haseena’s husband Mohammed Noor works abroad and she used to live with her three children and mother-in-law. The incident took place at Tripthi Layout under Malpe police station limits.

Udupi SP Arun K, who visited the spot, said no valuables were missing from the house. “There was no family dispute or issues to say someone within the family killed them,” he added.
While there were no CCTV cameras in the residential area, the police said they have got a vital clue.
A police officer said, “The killer had taken an autorickshaw to reach the house and was talking in Kannada. Autorickshaw driver Shyam has seen him.”
Later, speaking to the media, Shyam said, “Around 8.30 am-9 am, a person who came on a two-wheeler parked the vehicle near the Queen’s Road and got into the autorickshaw to reach Tripthi Layout. I dropped him near the house where the murders took place. I returned to the autorickshaw stand.
In another 15 minutes, he returned to Santhekatter autorickshaw stand to take another autorickshaw. I told him that I would have waited if he had asked me to. He said ‘no issues’ and left. He was wearing a mask and had a shaved head.”
The Manipal police have registered a murder case and have begun a manhunt to nab the murderer.
