Strengthening its attacks against the ruling Congress on the alleged cash-for-transfer scam, the JD(S) Wednesday exposed yet another episode involving transfer of four officers in the school education department. In a series of tweets, the party uploaded two government notifications – one containing the list of education officials who are directed for transfer and another notification which withdrew their transfers the same day.

A government notification dated July 1 ordered the transfer of four deputy directors of the school education department ‘immediately in public and administrative interest until further orders’. As per the notification, Shivaramegowda H, deputy director (development), Kolar district, was transferred to the post of deputy director (administration), Mandya district; N H Nagura, deputy director, DSCERT, Bengaluru, was transferred to the post of deputy director (administration) Vijayapura district; A B Pundalika, principal, Government Teachers College, Belagavi, was transferred to the post of deputy director (administration), Belagavi and S T Javaregowda, deputy director (administration), Mandya district was transferred to the post of deputy director (administration), Hassan district.

However, another notification on the same day ordered the withdrawal of the transfers immediately and directed the officers to report to their original posts.

Taking a dig at the Congress, JD(S) accused the government of imposing ‘YST’ (Yathindra State Tax) in an apparent reference to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Dr Yathindra Siddaramaiah, alleging his involvement in the ‘cash for transfers scam’.

Referring to the CMO as ‘Corruption Management Office’, the JD(S) stated that, “If the YST is not paid the transfer orders go to trash. Special note: YST tax is mandatory if it is to be received on the day of the transfer order. Otherwise, the transfer order is guaranteed to go straight to the dustbin.”

Meanwhile, Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa declined to comment on the ‘cash for postings’ charges in the school education department. “I don’t wish to comment on this. I don’t indulge in such cheap activities. Since this is the transfer season, recommendations from my end and the chief minister’s end would have possibly clashed. The transfers of teachers are undertaken as per the procedures,” the minister said.

JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy has been attacking the ruling government in the alleged ‘cash for transfers scam’ and accusing the Chief Minister’s Office of corruption. He alleged that multiple government officials are being transferred to one post upon the recommendation of the chief minister and also local MLAs.
