Bengaluru: Upset over lover’s death, woman jumps off 11th floor

The Cubbon Park police have filed a case of unnatural death and further investigations are on.

A 25-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping off the 11th floor of a commercial building on Kasturba Road in Central Bengaluru on Monday. She was reportedly upset with the death of her lover in an accident recently.

The Cubbon Park police said that J. Pooja, a resident of Byatarayanapura and native of Gulbarga, was working with, situated on the fifth floor of the same building from which she jumped off.

The police said that the incident took place around 3 pm on Monday at Prestige Obelisk building. The security staff of the building saw that a woman had fallen off from the building and died on the spot. They informed the police about the incident.

The police rushed to the spot and found a suicide note in the pocket. “I can’t live without Charan (her lover), sorry dad and mummy,” she wrote in the letter.

The preliminary investigation revealed that she was in love with her colleague Charan, a native of Turuvekere and both families knew about it. Unfortunately, Charan, along with his friend Krishna Yadav, was killed near the Bengaluru International Airport in an accident on Saturday. She was upset about his sudden demise and had visited Charan’s house with her friend on Monday before coming to office. She then called Charan’s friend Vasu on the mobile around 2:20 pm and expressed her desire to talk with Charan. Vasu tried to calm her down saying that nobody would be able to talk with Charan as he was dead. However, she was not pacified and she then went to the 11th floor of the building and jumped off from there ending her life, the police said.
