Three people booked for digging borewell in the middle of a road in Bengaluru
Om Sai Main Road in Bengaluru’s Veerabhadreshwara Nagar area was dug up using a drilling machine, according to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).
After the BBMP received an oral complaint, officials found a drilling machine deployed in the middle of the road. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has got three people booked by police for digging a borewell in the middle of a road in the Karnataka capital.
Om Sai Main Road in Bengaluru’s Veerabhadreshwara Nagar area was dug up on October 3 and 4, according to the FIR registered at the Byadarahalli police station.
The accused, identified as Jayaraj, Dhananjay and Prakash, allegedly used a borewell drilling machine to dig up the road in the Herohalli ward of the RR Nagar zone.
After the BBMP received an oral complaint, officials found a drilling machine deployed in the middle of the road. They seized the vehicles used for the purpose and the assistant executive engineer of the Herohalli subdivision lodged a police complaint.
The FIR was registered under sections of the Prevention of Destruction of Loss and Property Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Tushar Girinath, Chief Commissioner, BBMP, said the civic body had received a photo of the borewell being dug in the middle of the road. “On the asphalt road, they were digging a borewell. We have seized the vehicles and registered an FIR. We will also impose a penalty (on the accused),” he said.
