Bengaluru man who objected to Ganesh procession celebrations murdered in front of his mother
Police said the gang members felt offended when the man asked them not to play music or dance in front of his house as part of immersion festivities.

A 25-year-old man in Bengaluru was allegedly stabbed to death in front of his mother Sunday night following an altercation with a group over playing music in connection with Ganesh idol immersion festivities, the police said.
The police have arrested eight people in connection with the murder, officials said.
They have identified the deceased as Srinivas, of AK Colony in Adugodi, who worked as a delivery boy.
According to the police, the incident took place around 10 pm on Sunday when Srinivas objected to playing loud music and dancing in front his house. The gang led by Vinay, one of the arrested, was offended when Srinivas objected to the celebrations and stabbed him in a fit of rage, said an officer.
“Vinay, and his friend had an argument with Srinivas and the neighbours and local residents intervened and defused the situation. A few minutes later, Vinay returned with his friends to question Srinivas for not allowing them to play the music and stabbed him with a dagger, despite Srinivas’ mother Indira trying to dissuade them,” said an officer.
Though Srinivas was rushed to a nearby hospital he was declared brought dead, the police said.
The Adugodi police have registered a murder case.
A police officer said the area had two gangs and Srinivas’ gang had celebrated Ganesh festival on September 10. The groups, however, did not have a history of rivalry, he added.
