The Bengaluru police have imposed a ban on the sale of liquor in the city for two days in order to facilitate peaceful conduct of local polls to the city council on August 22.

The order comes into effect from 7 am on August 21 and lasts till midnight of August 22.

It prohibits the sale, consumption, stocking and procuring of liquor or related intoxicants. “It is absolutely necessary to ensure a fair and peaceful election process,” police commissioner N S Megharikh said in a statement.
