Bangalore: Police personnel stage protest over criminal case against IPS officer

Policemen were protesting against a criminal case being registered against their top boss P Ravindranath.

The Sarjapur road in Koramangala in south Bangalore which serves as a key link to some of the IT companies witnessed a massive traffic jam on Wednesday evening following a protest by several policemen from the Karntaka State Reserve Police (KSRP).
The policemen were protesting against a criminal case being registered against their top boss the Additional Director General of Police (KSRP) P Ravindranath.
The senior Karnataka IPS office was booked on Tuesday in a criminal case for allegedly taking ‘obscene pictures’ of a woman journalist at a cafe on Cunningham Road in central Bangalore on Monday morning.
The deputy commissioner of police (traffic- east) M N Baburajendra Prasad said that a protest was staged by KSRP men on the Sarjapur Road against the booking of P Ravindranath leading to the disruption of the entire traffic on the road. The agitators were demanding that Ravindranath’s resignation must not be accepted by the government.
They have also demanded stringent action against police officials whom Ravindranath has accused of conspiring to frame him. The ADGP himslef was holding a meeting of KSRP commandants while his forces were protesting on the street.
