A 30-YEAR-old woman who is the prime suspect in the kidnapping and murder of her husband surrendered before a magistrate’s court on Wednesday — exactly a month after the murder of 48-year-old Krishnappa.
The woman has been identified as Vrinda, second wife of the businessman who was kidnapped by a gang from the ITI Layout near Jnanabharathi on the morning of February 25 when he ventured out to play badminton.
Krishnappa, a resident of Kottigepalya, owned a few small-scale factories. Vrinda, who was suspected to be involved in the murder, had gone missing after the kidnapping and murder of her husband.
“She surrendered before a magistrate’s court on Wednesday. We have taken her into police custody for six days as she is the main accused in the case. She confessed to her crime during the investigation,” Assistant Commissioner Of Police (Kengeri Gate) Sathyanarayana N Kudur said.
Krishnappa was brutally attacked with lethal weapons after he was abducted. His body was found the next day at Channapatna, some 50 km from Bangalore.
The murder was carried out with the active involvement of Krishnappa’s second wife, who allegedly wanted him to sign off his properties in her name. She was helped by her elder brother Puttegowda and his friends in the killing. The Jnanabharati police have so far managed to arrest seven persons in connection with the case.
