A 52-year-old physically challenged man was found murdered at his residence in the Ramaiah Layout in East Bangalore on Thursday night.
The victim Raju had escorted a party of prospective tenants to the third floor of a four storey building that he owned in the Ramaiah Layout. He did not return to his house on the first floor of the building for several hours and was later found bound and gagged to death in the empty apartment on the third floor of the building.
The group of four prospective tenants had visited Raju’s home on Thursday evening in the company of a real estate broker Manju. They had come under the pretext of seeing the vacant house on the third floor of the building.
According to the police Raju who went up to the third floor with the prospective tenants at around 7 pm did not return home for several hours and alarmed family members who rushed to the third floor found him dead in the vacant house. Police said that Raju was wrapped in plastic tape and his hands and feet were tied up with a rope. His mouth had been gagged by a piece of cloth. The gold chain and ring that he was wearing were missing.“We have nabbed the real estate broker who is a relative of the victim. We suspect a property dispute to be the motive for the murder,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (East division) N Sathish Kumar said.
Police said that Raju had six months ago married Madhavi a native of Andhra Pradesh. His first wife had deserted him earlier, police said.
