5 held for gang raping a minor in Karnataka, search on for 1 more accused
Belagavi Police Commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulabrao promises the strictest punishment for the accused.
This incident came on the back of another instance of minors allegedly gang-raping a minor in Belagavi. The Belagavi police have arrested three men and apprehended two minor boys for allegedly gang-raping a 15-year-old girl on several occasions.
On Sunday, Borase Bhushan Gulabrao, Police Commissioner, Belagavi, told the media that a Pocso (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case was filed against six people a day earlier. Gulabrao added that they were on the lookout for the sixth accused.
He said that one man had initially befriended the victim, and he and five others gang-raped her in December 2024 and filmed the assault on their phones. The accused allegedly used the videos of the assault to blackmail the victim and gang raped her again in January this year.
“She was gang raped several times in different places. We will try to ensure the strictest punishment for the accused,” Gulabrao said.
This incident came on the back of another instance of minors allegedly gang-raping a minor in Belagavi. The girl’s parents had filed a complaint on May 12. Three minor boys, who were acquainted with the girl, reportedly took her to a farm on May 6 on the pretext of celebrating her birthday and allegedly gang raped her.
