“The school principal, management and staff did not have safety measures in place and were irresponsible and careless...,” Joseph said in his complaint. RepresentativeThe head of a daycare centre and pre-school for children in Bengaluru has been booked for endangering the life of a four-year-old child and causing death due to negligence.
A student of Delhi Pre School at Chellakere in east Bengaluru, Gianna Jito, daughter of IT professional Jito Joseph, reportedly fell in the school on January 22 and died two days later at a hospital.
In a complaint against principal Thomas Cherian and the school management, Joseph said he had been sending the older of his two children to the pre-school since June 2023. As per the routine, Gianna would be dropped at the school at 9.30 am and Joseph used to go to the school at 12.30 pm to deliver her lunch.
On January 22, Joseph got a call around 2.30 pm from the school, saying that his daughter was ill and vomiting. On reaching the school, he was told that his daughter was taken to a hospital as she had fallen down while playing in the school. On meeting Gianna, her parents found she had suffered an internal head injury. On January 24, she died.
“The school principal, management and staff did not have safety measures in place and were irresponsible and careless…,” Joseph said in his complaint.
