A 22-year-old small-time businessman was arrested by the Jayanagar police for allegedly teasing a college student at Jayanagar shopping complex in South Bangalore when she was returning home with a friend after shopping on Tuesday evening.

The accused was identified as Azad alias Syed Assadullah Hussain of Jayanagar III block and owner of a small shop. BS Lokesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (south division) said that the incident took place on Tuesday evening around 7.30 pm, when the victim, along with her friend, was walking out of the complex to return home.

The accused allegedly passed a comment about the girl and she retorted back saying, “Go and tell your mom”. He was angered by her words and picked up a fight. During the verbal fight, Azad asked her what her rate was. He also asked her whether she is a Katrina Kaif or Aishwarya Rai at the initial stage of the fight. Enraged, the girl informed a policeman nearby, which led to his arrest.

A case was registered against him under section 354a(2) (punishment for any man making physical contact and advances involving unwelcome and explicit sexual overtures, demands sexual favors or shows pornography against the will of the woman) of IPC.
