The FIR mentions that Rajesh from Dayanand Nagar was with his friend when three men on a bike apprehended them near New Rialto Chowk.
Police said that the robbers thought him to be a jeweller and tried to snatch the bag. “However, when he resisted, they open fired at him. A bullet hit him on the chest and he died on the spot, following which, the accused fled the spot,” SSP North Varinder Singh Khosa said, adding that they are scanning CCTV footage for clues.
