Youth arrested after cannabis worth Rs 1.12 lakh seized from him in Rajkot

The accused has been charged under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Solanki was previously booked in a prohibition case.

A 24-year-old man was arrested Monday after 11.25 kg of cannabis worth Rs 1.12 lakh was seized from him in the Jetpur area of Rajkot, police said. A magisterial court in Rajkot sent the accused to four-day police remand.

The accused, identified as Mayur Solanki alias Mahesh, was a resident of Mandanpara village in Junagadh district. According to the police, the accused has been selling cannabis for the past three years and earning profits.

During interrogation, he told the police that previously, a dealer had delivered him the contraband on a couple of occasions while doing “Ambaji darshan” near Banaskantha. “…this time, he (the dealer) came to the Jetpur bus stand to deliver the goods. The accused came on a bike to collect the drugs while our team nabbed him on the spot,” said A. D. Parmar, inspector at Jetpur Police Station.

The other dealer had already left the spot before the police arrived. Cops said they are on a lookout for him.

Along with the narcotics, the police have also seized a mobile and the motorcycle of the accused. The accused has been charged under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Solanki was previously booked in a prohibition case.
