Overcome by domestic quarrel, a woman allegedly committed suicide after allegedly murdering her three children by throwing them in an open well in Ghogha taluka of Bhavnagar late on Saturday.
Police said Manisha Bambhaniya (35), a resident of Padva village in Ghogha taluka in Bhavnagar district, committed suicide after throwing her three children in a well on an agricultural farm late on Saturday evening.
Manisha left her home on Saturday evening telling her in-laws that she was taking her children Archna (4), Anil (3) and Sneha (9 months) out to the family’s agriculture farm for collecting berries.
After reaching the farm, however, she first threw the three children in a 100-feet deep well on the farm and later jumped into it herself. The bodies of the four were found floating in the well at around 6 pm on Saturday, police said.
“Manisha’s brother Vinu Jambucha has alleged that her husband and in-laws were harassing her mentally and physically over petty issues. This drove her to take the extreme step,” Ghogha police sub-inspector (PSI) Bhura Vadhiya said on Sunday.
On the basis of Jambucha’s complaint, Ghogha police have booked Manisha’s husband Pravin and four other in-laws for abatement to suicide and subjecting a woman to cruelty. Police have also booked Manisha for allegedly murdering her three children.
