A Woman constable with the Bagvadar police station in Porbandar district and her brother were arrested under bootlegging charges late on Saturday.
The two were caught red-handed,transporting 60 liters of country-made liquor on a bike, and arrested under the Prohibition Act.
Kiriti Mandir police said Rudi Odedara,a constable with the Bagvadar police station, and her brother Rajshi were arrested from Kharvavad on Bandar Road following a tip-off.
The officers intercepted their motorcycle and a search revealed liquor being ferried in polythene bags.
The police believe the two are involved with the big players in the bootlegging racket and that the accused officer misused her rank and authority in a bid to evade check.
“Preliminary investigation points to her links with big bootleggers from the area. We have been focusing the investigation to find these links,” said an officer.
The Kirti Mandir police said the two will be produced in court for seeking their remand.
