In view of last years deficient monsoon in the state,the Revenue Department has set aside Rs 1,201 crore to overcome water scarcity problems in 2013-14,the Assembly was informed Monday.
Keeping in mind last years insufficient rainfall,we have allocated Rs 1,210 crore to meet scarcity-like situation in Saurashtra,Kutch and North Gujarat regions, Revenue Minister Anandi Patel said during discussion on Budgetary provisions of her department.
She said the State Disaster Management Authority has been earmarked Rs 115 crore for undertaking relief works in case of natural calamities.
Patel said a sum of Rs 22 crore has been set aside for administrative works in new districts and talukas.
On January 26,the government had given in-principle approval for creation of seven new districts and 22 talukas.
The minister further said that another Rs 77.69 crore has been earmarked for starting an online system wherein all district collectorates will be inter-connected. The system will help citizens to avail land records and other services.
