The Vadodara ACB Thursday arrested an assistant engineer (Class III) of the Waghodia taluka panchayat, Dinesh Kikani for allegedly amassing disproportionate assets worth Rs 8.77 crore. The ACB sleuths raided the Waghodia road bungalow of the engineer in Vadodara city as well as his multiple construction sites, hotels and businesses.
According to ACB assistant director P R Gehlot, the raids revealed as many as 26 bank accounts and two lockers in the names of Kikani and his wife as well as immovable properties worth Rs 8.77 crore. “We have booked a case of disproportionate assets against Kikani and begun investigations into his income and transactions since 2000,” Gehlot said. The investigators have found that Kikani’s income during this period was Rs 51.30 lakh while his assets are worth Rs 9.28 crore — Rs 8.77 crore in excess.
Apart from his road bungalow at Waghodia, the properties under scanner include a hotel near Kapurai Junction, a house at Dandia Bazar, a commercial complex at Kapurai, another on Waghodia Road and a construction site at Dumad. Besides, the ACB has also found joint accounts of Kikani with his wife, including SBI, Sankheda Nagrik Bank, Allahabad Bank and Punjab National Bank. “We also found registered vehicles in the name of Kikani and his wife as well as shares worth lakhs of rupees. There is also large deposits in PPF accounts,” he said.
