5 Vadodara cycle shop owners booked for non-maintenance of buyers’ records

(FILE) Owners of five cycle shops have been booked by the Navapura police in Vadodara for allegedly violating a prohibitory order in force that requires the owners to maintain records of purchasers of cycles, along with the details of each product sold.
They were booked after the Navapura police conducted a random check of records maintained by traders in the cycle market at Patthar gate Sunday. Five shops were found violating the order that has been in place for several years after cycles were used to plant bombs in various cities across the country.
“The prohibitory order, which is renewed periodically, requires the cycle traders to maintain records of purchasers as well as save details of the cycles that have been sold, including the frame number. Five owners were found not maintaining the records that have been mandatory since the time that cycles were used as a tool in terror activities across the country,” said Navapura police inspector HL Ahir.
