Two persons died when the roof of decades-old Liberty Talkies collapsed at Kalwa Chowk in Junagadh city on Friday. According to an eyewitness,the incident occurred around 11am in which a part of the terrace fell over two motorcyclists who were passing by the building. An autorickshaw,which was parked near the building,was also damaged.
Locals immediately launched a rescue operation and rushed the two injured to the Junagadh Civil Hospital,where they were declared dead on arrival.
The deceased were identified as Praful Patel (32),a resident of Junagadh,and Tejas Vamja (22),a resident of Vanthali town. Patel owned a plywood shop located on the Jayshree Road in the same locality. The city police have registered a case of accidental death.
Later,Junagadh Municipal Corporation (JMC) officials visited the area and closed the road for traffic,as work was underway to demolish the rest of the building,according to officials.
