They first lost their friends and neighbours. Then they lost their homes. But their faith is intact. Residents of Madhavnagar society in Atladara, who continue to live on the roads after being evacuated from the dilapidated structures following the collapse of two buildings on August 28,have decided to bring in an idol of Ganapati in their complex on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations that will begin on Monday.
While the members of the society will keep the idol of Ganesh for 10 days at the temple within the compound, children of the complex are creating their own clay idols in the hope that the Lord will bring back the roof over their heads.
Seen in the picture is 11-year-old Aarti Awasthi with her clay Ganesh idol. Aarti, who is currently living outside the building, says that Lord Ganesh will end her problems soon. I know the Lord will answer my prayers. He will give me back my home. I will pray for everybody in my society, she adds.
