Thieves break into showroom,decamp with cash,laptops worth Rs 5.44 lakh

Cash and electronic goods worth over Rs 5.44 lakh were reportedly stolen from a showroom near the passport office in Navrangpura.

Cash and electronic goods worth over Rs 5.44 lakh were reportedly stolen from a showroom near the passport office in Navrangpura.

The Gujarat University police said that some unidentified person/s broke into the premises of Silver Touch Technology,at Gokul Apartment near Navrangpura,and decamped with Rs 19,170 in cash and 11 laptops on Friday night. The police said the total loss is estimated to the tune of Rs 5,44,909.

The thieves broke into the showroom by breaking the locks of the shutter. When showroom owner Ritesh Soni,who stays in the Satellite area,went there in the morning and he found the place ransacked. Soni later lodged a complaint.

“It seems that more than one person was involved in the theft. We have got some leads and trying to trace the accused,” said the police officer investigating the case.

In another incident,thieves stole cash and valuables worth Rs 1.62 lakh from the residence of one

K S S Nair in Sarjan Apartment near Vastrapur on Saturday. The police said thieves entered the house by breaking the entrance door and fled with a digital camera and cash.
