Several centres in Gujarat recorded maximum temperatures of 42º Celsius on Thursday. They included Gandhinagar,Vallabh Vidyanagar,Vadodara,Amreli and Kandla. Three large cities Ahmedabad,Surat and Vadodara expected to sweat it out for at least four days with 42 degrees till Monday,according to the Meteorology Department.
Clouds and accompanying drops in temperature are unlikely over any part of the state in this period.
Some centres have also recorded temperatures remarkably above normal,such as Porbandar with a 6 degree departure from normal maximum temperature at 39 degrees,Valsad with a 5 degrees rise from normal at 38 and Vadodara and Mahuva with 43 and 40 degrees respectively.
Weather will be mainly sunny in all districts, the Met office said,adding there will be no major change in weather over the next two days.
