Two girls, one of them four-year-old,were allegedly raped in two separate incidents in Bhavnagar district on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.
According to a complaint filed with the A Division police station in Bhavnagar city,a four-year-old girl was abducted from Sir Takhtasinhji General Hospital by autorickshaw driver Ali Abbas and raped.
Later, the child was found near the hospital. Abbas was arrested late on Monday evening and booked for rape and kidnapping.
The victims father lives in Chotila town in Surendranagar district and works as a construction labourer. He had come to Bhavnagar with the girl due to the admission of a family member in the hospital. The autorickshaw driver kidnapped the girl when she was alone and raped her at a secluded place near the childrens ward. The girl has been hospitalised. She is out of danger, but doctors have said that she would be under observation for the next two days, A Division police inspector Balvant Sonara said.
In the second incident, the 19-year-old girl was allegedly raped at Kankot village in Ghogha taluka of Bhavnagar. The police said that the incident took place when the victim stepped outside her home after complaining of nausea around 3.30 am. One Yuvrajsinh Gohil,a resident of neighbouring Dhinkda village, allegedly dragged her into a provision store that her family runs and raped her.
The accused fled the spot when the girls mother and brother rushed to her side on hearing her cries for help.
The victim says she knew the accused and has named him in the complaint. A hunt is on to nab Gohil. The girl has been sent to government hospital in Ghogha for medical examination, Ghogha police sub-inspector Bhavik Ishrani said.
