The second day of the online Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET) for admission to MBA and MCA courses conducted by the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) was again marred by the alleged negligence of the staff at the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The NSE has been hired by the GTU for providing its expertise and services for conducting the test.
The reports, reaching the GTU from all the 23 centres in the states from where the online tests are being conducted, say that all of them received two sets of papers, instead of only one set of paper. The candidates appearing at the test were confused as what to do and they immediately informed the invigilators. One of the question papers was of the first day on Thursday that was also marred due to technical snag.
As the officials at the examination centres did not have administrative powers to deactivate the previous days question paper, all of them contacted the NSE.
When contacted,GTU Vice-Chancellor Akshai Aggarwal confirmed that there was some problem in the morning session on Friday. He said the person in-charge at NSE for handling GCET had not deactivated the Thursday question paper and this led to confusion.
Aggarwal said the NSE was immediately contacted by the supervisors at the all the centres and then deactivated the previous days papers. Aggarwal admitted that it wasted time of the candidates as it took some time for NSE to deactivate the unwanted question paper.
However,Aggarwal claimed that there was no problem in the afternoon examination and it went on smoothly. The last day of the test is on Saturday.
Examination for Fridays papers were, however, rescheduled at three centres where the students could not get adequate time in the morning session,he added.
A total of 22,868 candidates are appearing for 13,185 MBA seats and 6,670 MCA seats. There are a total of 119 MBA colleges and 56 MCA colleges in the state.
