Swine flu continues to rage unabated in the state with 11 more patients dying on Saturday. This takes, the total number of deaths due to Swine flu so far in Gujarat to 197.
The number of fresh cases registered in the state on Saturday was 249, including 110 cases from Ahmedabad, said the state health secretary J P Gupta.
This takes the progressive total to 2,886, according to information from Gupta.
Three persons each died in Vadodara and Surat while Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar witnessed death of two patients each, whereas Sabarkantha district reported one death on Saturday.
As many as 139 patients got cured in various places, Ahmedabad reported the highest, 110 cases during the day, followed by 27 in Kutch, 14 in Vadodara and 12 in Gandhinagar. The other districts reported less than 10 new cases on Saturday.
They are: Mehsana (8), Bhavnagar and Banaskantha (7 each) , Amreli (6) with Junagadh, Rajkot, Patan and Sabarkantha reporting five cases each.
Other districts reported 16 cases in all, the sources said.
