Surat woman jumps to death with children

A woman jumped to death in Mindola river in Navsari district with her two children on Friday evening. The Fire Brigade has fished out the bodies of the two children and are yet to recover the woman’s body.

Kanku Bhadiyadra (24) from Pardi Kande in Sachin left for her parents’ house in Sandalpore village of Navsari district with her children Priyanshi (4) and Kul (3) in the evening. An autorickshaw driver from the locality saw her jump into the river from the Mindola bridge and informed the police.

The Navsari police rushed to the spot and began a search with the help of divers. Later the Fire Brigade was summoned and the bodies of the children fished out. The police informed Kanku’s husband Raman and handed over the two bodies after postmortem.

The police said inquiries have revealed that the couple were staying happily. They are now trying to find out the cause behind the suicide as Kanku had not left behind any suicide note. The police have lodged a case of accidental death and murder.
