After registering FIR against self-styled godman Asaram and his son,the Surat police have now geared up to find out the whereabouts of Narayan Sai. The city police have formed a special investigation team to probe the case under the supervision of Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana. The police are tracking the phone numbers of Sai and his close aides.
Two sisters from Surat have lodged two separate complaints against Asaram and Sai,alleging that they were repeatedly raped by the father and son at their ashrams. The complainants have also accused Asarams wife Laxmi,and daughter Bharti of threatening them.
The FIR against Asaram has been transferred to Ahmedabad as the alleged incident happened in his ashram at Motera.
A team of Ahmedabad police has visited Surat and collected relevant documents related to the case.
The Surat police have formed a team,led by Deputy Commissioner of Police Shobha Bhutada and Assistant Commissioner of Police R A Munshi,to investigate the complaint.
The Surat police have already issued a lookout notice for Sai. The police have also registered statements of both the complainants before a magistrate under provisions of Section 164 of CrPC. Both the complainants have been provided police protection.
