The civic body has ordered a survey of all buildings in municipal limits whose construction was completed on or before March 28,2011 so that they could be regularised by charging an impact fee,as mandated by the new law recently passed by the state Assembly.
The municipal corporation has received the notification on the impact fee from the state urban development department, which seeks to regularise such buildings that were otherwise deemed illegal under the existing building by-laws.
Yesterday,Municipal Commissioner M K Das dispatched the copies of the new notification to the seven zonal chiefs of the civic body.
While civic officials will carry out a survey in the coming days to identify such buildings, concerned individuals or parties can also contact the civic body to get their buildings regularised by paying up the impact fee.
The impact fee will depend on on the type of structure, area, etc.,the details of which will be made available by the state government soon. People will also have to show some certificate to the municipal officials to establish that the construction was done before March 28,2011, Das said
Darshan Sawani,a city-based builder, welcomed the development, saying the new law would benefit the public as well as the real estate developers. ENS
