The Surat city BJP unit vice-president and his six associates are on the run after a complaint of cheating had been registered against them on Thursday for their alleged involvement in illegal possession of land at Dumas with the help of fake documents, police said.

According to reports,Peerabhai Desai,a native of Asoda village in Banaskantha district, had purchased 20,336 square metres of agricultural land in 1995,with the revenue survey no. 842,at Dumas in Surat from Kunverji Patel and Sihwar Patel.

After purchasing the land,Peerabhai had cleared all the land related documents and got his name registered in the government records.

In 2004,Peerabhai had sold the land to Dashratbhai and Hiteshbhai and due to some unknown reason both failed to put up their names in the government records.

Police said Akbari and his friends somehow came to know about the land and hatched conspiracy on how to get it. As per the plan,Akbari and his friends had gone to Deesa and hired a person posing as Peerabhai and made sale deed documents.

Later they had made sale deed documents of the land in the name of one Ganesh Dhamelia and got it registered with sub registrar office in Surat.

Both Dashratbhai and Hiteshbhai somehow had come to know about the conspiracy, following which, the duo contacted Peerabhai.

A fer months ago,Peerabhai along with the duo had complained it to collector and given an application to Surat police commissioner.

During preliminary investigation by the collectorate department officials,it had been revealed that some persons posed as Peerabhai and made sale deed documents.

Later,Peerabhai had registered a complaint against Akbari and six others with Umra police station in Surat on Thursday.

Confirming the incident,Umra police inspector M M Parmar said,“We have registered a complaint against Akbari and others in a land cheating case. We have started a hunting operation and launched further investigation in this connection.”
