State governments Fee Regulatory Committee (Technical) has fixed the tuition fee on ad hoc basis for the new institutions and courses started during academic year 2013-14.
A circular issued by the committee a few days ago but made available to media only on Thursday stated that the fee approved by the committee was applicable for the year 2013-14 only.
The new fee is uniform for all the institutions whether in a big city like Ahmedabad or a smaller one like Bharuch and Dahod. However,the ad hoc fee is not higher that the current rate of fee charged by many institutions even in towns like Anand and Rajkot.
According to the circular,the ad hoc fee may be revised and regularised on the basis of actual expenditure of the institutions on completion of the first financial year. The difference in fee if any,according to the circular,will have to be paid by the students to their respective institutes after regularisation of the fee by the committee.
The committee also asked the institutes to take an undertaking from each of the students taking admission to abide by the committees order on difference of fees,if any,upon regularisation of fee.
The ad hoc fee per annum for degree engineering,pharmacy,MBA,MCA and Hotel & Tourism Managements has been fixed Rs 49,000. For diploma engineering and pharmacy courses it has been kept at Rs 29,000 per annum. Similarly,annual ad hoc fee for ME/M Tech is Rs 79,000 and Rs 89,000 for MPharm. For degree architecture course,the annual fee is Rs 57,000.
Appointment of vidya sahayaks a transparent process
In the wake of questions raised by the Supreme Court on the appointment and functioning of vidya sahayaks in Gujarat,the state education department in a statement on Thursday said appointment of these teachers in the state has been a transparent process and as per National Council of Teachers Education. In the last 12 years,as many as 85,000 vidya sahayaks have been upgraded in regular teachers salary slab. After a service of five years,the salary of a vidya sahayak is upgraded to a regular teacher.
