Students and teachers of a small village in Mota-Kotada have set a perfect example of communal harmony and integration. Students due to appear in the secondary and higher secondary board examinations scheduled from March 18,cancelled their farewell programme, and donated the amount collected, for the treatment of the school’s ailing clerk.
It is a decade old tradition of the Mota-Kotada High School to organise farewell programme every year for students appearing in the board examinations. This year too,the necessary arrangements were made, but the students thought it more important to help the ailing clerk Mohamed Bhai rather than organise the farewell programme.
Mohamed Bhai is suffering from Brain TB and is under treatment at a hospital in Ahmedabad. Besides,he is also facing a financial problem owing to his long illness. The students approached the school administration and asked for the farewell amount to be donated towards Mohamed Bhais treatment. The school welcomed the step. Subsequently the farewell was cancelled and the amount of Rs 7,000 meant for the programme was donated towards the treatment. Kailash Kathiriya,a student of Class X said,To help a person who has rendered his service since the last three decade for our school is certainly more important for us.
Kanchan Pipaliya,a Class XII student echoed the same sentiments. It was our duty to help him. It is (helping Mohamed Bhai) purely a noble cause, and based on humanitarian grounds, Kanchan said.
Rasikbhai Patel,a teacher with the Mota-Kotada High School said: This is the best ever combination of our culture and education. Students voluntarily decided to help our ailing clerk. The entire teaching staff has contributed towards this. It was our moral duty to help him.
Mohamed Bhai had joined the school in 1980 as a peon and graduated to the post of a clerk.
