(Express File Photo) The Gujarat State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA), which was assigned the task to survey the issue of stray cattle across all districts of the state, has concluded the problem remains a “danger to human beings”.
According to sources, the report by the GSLSA, an arm of the Gujarat High Court, said that while two zones of Ahmedabad city saw a decline in stray cattle, the issue persists in three other zones, where stray cattle can be found meandering in the middle of roads and even on BRTS lanes.
The report was compiled following directions by the Gujarat High Court to the GSLSA in an order dated October 13. Cautioning that the issue could “result in a catastrophe”, the report noted high stray cattle presence in several areas of Ahmedabad, including Makarba, Vejalpur, Bapunagar, Amraiwadi, and Nikol, as well as on roads that have heavy traffic such as the Piplaj-Pirana road.
