A man has been booked in connection with his 10-year-old son’s death based on a complaint from his wife, days after the bike-borne family was involved in an accident on the outskirts of Rajkot city after a collision with a stray bull, said police on Friday.

The man, identified as Suresh Bohakiya, was booked by Rajkot city police on Thursday evening for causing death by negligence and rash driving.

According to the FIR, the incident took place on National Highway 27 near Rajkot International Airport when the man, his wife Rekha (27), son Kishor and sister Kinjal (12) were on their way to Rajkot to visit Rekha’s mother.

The FIR registered at Airport Police Station stated that Kishor died “after he was seriously injured in an accident near Chamunda hotel at 3:30pm Monday”. “The boy was sitting on the fuel tank of the motorbike that his father was driving. The father lost control of his bike after hitting the bull which strayed on the highway,” police said.

“As per complaint by Rekha, she had warned her husband to be careful and drive slowly but he didn’t listen, leading to the fatal accident,” Ashwingiri Goswami, police sub-inspector (PSI) of Airport police station, told The Indian Express on Friday.
