Presenting their arguments for the second day,Zakia Jafri’s lawyers on Thursday told a metropolitan court that the Special Investigation Team (SIT)’s arguments suggested it wanted the accused to go scot-free.

Zakia, the widow of former Congress MP Ahsan Jafri who was killed at his Gulbarg Society residence in Ahmedabad during the 2002 riots, had challenged the clean chit given by the SIT to CM Narendra Modi and 62 others in connection with the post-Godhra communal violence.

In the petition,Zakia has accused the SIT of being biased and demanded further probe. “SIT was given an honourable job by Supreme Court but it failed in discharging its duty. Their act is a blot on the provisions of law,” Zakia’s lawyer Sanjay Parikh said.
