As unseasonal rains lashed the city on Friday morning, drivers of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) were seen having a tough time as they drove without wipers.
However, officials of Ahmedabad Janmarg Limited (AJL),which runs BRTS ,said this was not a technical blooper but a deliberate move.
The wipers were removed from the buses as they obstruct the view for drivers. But we cannot say the buses are without wipers as these are kept inside the buses only. Once the monsoon arrives, these are put back on the windshields, said AJL general manager Harshad Rai Solanki.
A BRTS driver said,When we complained to AJL authorities about the bad placement of wipers,we were given a solution of removing them. After Fridays showers,AJL is expected to put the wipers back in place.
