Union Home and Cooperation Minister and Lok Sabha MP from Gandhinagar, Amit Shah, Tuesday held a meeting to review various projects of the state and Central governments and other developmental works in his constituency.
The meeting, which was also attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi, Chief Secretary Raj Kumar, advisor to the CM S S Rathore and other top officials, lasted for around six hours.
Among the projects that Shah reviewed include international operations at GIFT City, Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar Metro Rail and preparations for the Indian bid to host Olympics in Gujarat.
An official release stated that during the meeting, Shah also asked the officials of the National Highways Authority of India, the state roads and buildings department, and the state forest department to coordinate and start a campaign for intense tree plantation on the sides of national highways for relief against heat.
Shah also watched a presentation on the preparations for the bid to host the Olympics and provided guidance. He asked the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) and Sports department of the Gujarat government to prepare a design for facilities at Sardar Patel Sports Enclave and for residential facilities to be given to players.
The Union minister reviewed the Naranpura Sports Complex project, the progress of Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana and the development of the Sabarmati railway station and other options being explored by the authorities to lessen the load on Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad.
Shah emphasised on the need to carry out desilting process in various lakes of AMC after monsoon. He also reviewed the Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project.
