Seven of a family, including 3 children, found dead at home in Surat
Police suspects the businessman, Mahesh Solanki, allegedly poisoned his parents, wife and children and then hanged himself late Friday night. He was said to be facing financial issues after borrowers failed to pay him back the money he had loaned them.
The bodies of all the deceased were taken to New Civil Hospital by the police. Seven members of a furniture businessman’s family including children aged seven years, five years and three years, were found dead in a flat in Palanpur Patiya area of Surat Saturday morning. Police suspects the businessman, Mahesh Solanki, allegedly poisoned his parents, wife and children and then hanged himself late Friday night. He was said to be facing financial issues after borrowers failed to pay him back the money he had loaned them.
Sources at the Adajan police station, under whose jurisdiction the flat falls, said the incident came into light on Saturday morning, when neighbours reported a foul smell emanating from G1 flat of C2 Shree Siddheshwar complex at Palanpur Patia in surat, and when nobody responded to knocks on the door, the residents informed the Surat police control room.
Adajan police station officials immediately reached at spot and broke open the main door and found bodies of the seven members of the Solanki family.
The deceased have been identified as Manish Solanki (35), his wife Rita (32), children disha (7), kavya (5) and Khushal (3) whose bodies were found in the bedroom. The other bodies found were of Manish’s parents Kantilal Solanki (65) and mother Shobhna (60).
Manish hails from Savarkundla in Amreli distirct and had been staying with his family in Surat since long. He owns four flats in the same building where he resided with his family.
Surat Deputy commissioner of police Rakesh Barot told The Indian Express “The deceased Manish Solanki runs a furniture business and takes contracts of at newly developed construction sites. Manish gave poison to his family members and later hanged himself . A suicide note purportedly written by Manish has been recovered. We are carrying out investigation to find out more information.”
Sources said that, the bodies were taken to New Civil Hospital by police on Saturday afternoon. Procedure has been initiated to register an offence into the incident by police.
Sources said that, Manish had lent money to several people and as the Diwali festival approached, he demanded money from them but they didn’t repay and avoided citing excuses. Adajan police are trying to find out the reason behind him taking such a drastic step.
