The police plan to record statements of a top IPS officer and owner of a vernacular daily this week in connection with an NRI woman’s complaint alleging custodial rape and sexual harassment against them.

The police recently recorded statements of a CID Inspector and three others mentioned in the complaint by the woman with a police station on July 14 after which an inquiry was ordered by Ahmedabad police commissioner S K Saikia.

Insisting that her complaint be turned into an FIR,the woman, who was earlier arrested in a case of fraud and later released on bail, has refused to give her statements so far and failed to respond to police summons affixed outside her home in Vadodara.

DCP Parikshita Rathod, who is probing the case, said if the woman still refused to give her statements, the inquiry would be wound up and report submitted.
