Security beefed up for Vadodara rath yatra

The city police have installed around 40 CCTV cameras at various points along the route of the 31st Jagannath Rath Yatra scheduled on Thursday as part of their security arrangements for the religious yatra that is taken out every year by International Society for Krishna Consciousness.

The city police have installed around 40 CCTV cameras at various points along the route of the 31st Jagannath Rath Yatra scheduled on Thursday as part of their security arrangements for the religious yatra that is taken out every year by International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON).

A cavalcade of 15-odd cars,two mini luxury buses,three Eicher tempos,four trucks and decorated chariots fitted with musical systems will be part of the yatra carrying Lord Jagannath,Lord Balram and Devi Subhadra from Vadodara railway station to Polo Ground.

The yatra will begin from Vadodara railway station and will move along Kala Ghoda Circle,Tower Crossroads and Rajmahal Road before ending at Kevdabaug near Polo Ground. Traffic movements along the yatra route will be prohibited from noon till 8 pm,police said.

As many as two DySPs,five police inspectors,a company of Rapid Action Force,two company of state reserve police force (SRPF),and 400 Home Guards will be part of the security cover for the yatra.
