Residents of Sasan Gir,Bhalchhel and Haripur villages of Mendrarda taluka in Junagadh district called off their seven-day long hunger strike after Junagadh district BJP unit president Kanu Bhalala reportedly assured them of re-merging the three villages into their original Talala taluka on Wednesday.
The residents had been camping outside the headquarters of Sasan Gir since September 26 to protest against the state governments decision to axe them from the newly-created Gir Somnath district and merging them into Visavadar. Talala taluka had observed a bandh on Tuesday to press for their demand. Sasan Gir is known of its lion safaris.
